September recap

4 months here and I'm still enjoying it. I find new things to do each time I go out. Last weekend Gabi and I took a day trip up to Esztergom. It north of Bp along the Danube and borders Slovakia...(part of the former Czechoslovakia). The main site in Esztergom is the big cathedral there. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esztergom_Basilica) I took some pics there:

Gabi and I climbed to the top of the Basilica and took some pics of Esztergom, the Danube and also Slovakia.

The Danube and Slovakia, city of Parkany...the bridge connects the two countries

don't know what it is, but thought it was cool from atop the Basilica...

After taking a tour of the Basilica, we drove across the bridge and checked out Párkány, Slovakia. Didn't see much there because it was a Sunday and most places in Europe are closed on Sundays. We stopped to eat there at a restaurant along the river bank. I ate a bean soup w/ sausage and also a bratwurst. Eating cold weather foods is a new experience for me, but I like it.

me in Parkany...if you know what Pogi means, you'll understand ;)

Overall the daytrip to Esztergom was beautiful. The weather was cloudy and cold, but no rain and driving up through the small towns and seeing the green mountainside reminded me of the Pacific Northwest. Definitely going back there again.
In other news, school is going well for me. I'm in class Friday and Saturday and it's every other weekend. So the rest of my time I can devote to my budding singing career...j/k! I spend most of my days still trying to look for a job. I'm getting a lot of support from Gabi and her friends. Whenever they meet a headhunter or know someone, that knows someone they let me know to pass my CV along. I'll have to tell you though, it's frustrating the hell out of me. I'm trying to keep positive...I'm not to the point where I NEED to work, so that's good. But I know it won't last. I'm hoping to find something soon. At this point I just don't want to be a "bum"... :)
"And without a job, residence, or legal tender, that's what you're gonna be -- a f*ckin' bum!"

Gabi and I won't be coming home to SD during the holidays. She just started a new job as a Project Manager for a Translation company (English to Hungarian) and it'll be hard to try and get time off so soon. Also the price of airfare is too much and Gabi still needs to apply for a visa. I believe beginning next year, Hungarians don't need a visa to enter the US. So we're postponing the trip until sometime next year. We're shooting for April '09.
Gabi had a going away party this past Friday. Her coworkers from the Parlament decided to get together at their favorite bar, Club Tatu (Hungarian for Armadillo). Here's some pics:
