Job Market

So I've been reading stories on Business Week, Financial Times, WSJ, etc. regarding MBA's and the job market. It's to the point where, those that have been laid off are now competing w/ the likes of me for a frickin' internship! These are people that used to make 6 figures or so. Also in the mix, graduating MBA's. They're the ones who couldn't get an internship last summer and now have to compete for one, rather than for a full time job. Most likely, I will be in the same boat. During the school year, I applied for internships/jobs here and didn't have any success. The latest is w/ BCG..."not enough structure" i was told. I'm not cut out to be a "consultant". In any case, it's a tough road ahead for me. I've expanded my job search, to literally world wide. The growing job market in China got me thinking of another move after the program is done. I also checked out the PI.

*keeping my fingers crossed!

Let me ask you (for those that read my blogs), how bad/good is the job market in the US? All I know is what I read. Tell me, tell me, tell me... ;)

IRAN

Didn't know too many Iranians, until I arrived here. Oddly enough at UCI, there were plenty of Iranians, but sadly I never befriended any. But I have 3 great Iranian friends here in Bp and I officially support their request for a recount. I'm no expert in the politics of Iran/Persia, but I do know that government corruption shouldn't interfere with a "democratic" election. During the announcement of Ahmadinejad "winning" the election, a friend had forwarded me several videos that weren't available to the media yet. It showed how "democratic" Iran was. Since then, you can go to youtube and even major media outlets such as CNN, to catch a glimpse.
Here in Bp, there will be a Silent Commemoration tomorrow night at Hosok Ter (Heroes Square) from 6-8pm, in honor of those who lost their lives fighting for their rights. I will join them.

First Year done!

It was official on May 30th...I've been in Bp for one whole year. Gabi and I celebrated by going out to dinner. June 13 also marked the end of my first year of my MBA program. I'm set for summer.

Things to do:
-find either a summer internship or another job (my hours are scaled back to 10hrs/wk...damn recession!)

-Take a trip: depends on the money situation, but prefer to go to Croatia or Greece...I need some water near me

-take hungarian lessons...met another american here who's taking lessons and i feel ashamed, seeing as i've been here longer and he knows more than me

other than that everything's copacetic....oh yeah, i also went horseback riding for the first time! one of my friends owns a horse and she tried to teach me how to ride....effin' hard! but i was told i did well for my first time. we'll see, i'm going again.
